Woodland Trust – Wildlife Conservation Volunteer (Mourne Park)
Description
Do you live near Kilkeel and would like the opportunity to help with some practical tasks within the spectacular Mourne Park and surrounding Woodland Trust sites?
Situated between the southern end of the Mourne Mountains and the County Down coastline, Mourne Park and Aughrim Hill lies within the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Mourne Park is an exceptional woodland site including 73 hectares of ancient semi-natural woodland and planted ancient woodland sites in need of restoration. This is the biggest ancient woodland restoration project seen to date in Northern Ireland.
We are looking for someone that will help conserve the natural beauty of Mourne Park, Aughrim Hill and other sites within the Kingdom of Mourne by assisting the Mourne Park project team with the practical management of the landscape as well as monitoring, surveying and recording wildlife. The Mourne Park project conservation volunteers will meet regularly to carry out a wide range of practical conservation and surveying tasks in Mourne Park and occasionally throughout the Kingdom of Mourne.
This volunteer role will contribute towards the Woodland Trust’s strategy of preserving, growing, maintaining and restoring woods and trees across the UK. As a wildlife conservation volunteer, you make a difference by being our eyes and ears on the ground, and feeding back any useful information to your volunteer manager.
