The Conservation Volunteers – Team Leader

The Team Leader of TCV’s Northwest operational team is an exciting new role, based at TCV’s purpose-built property at Brooke Park in Derry, leading our ambitious operational plans for the wider northwest locality. Working across Counties Londonderry, Tyrone, Fermanagh as well as some cross-border projects.

We are seeking an individual with good leadership, co-ordination and communication skills. Experience of leading a complex portfolio of projects is essential. Also experience in horticulture, land management or conservation work.

Our existing northwest operational portfolio includes:

  • Projects to improve community open spaces and involve local people.
  • School grounds enhancement projects.
  • Tree planting projects.
  • Habitat management work across a network of nature reserves and country parks.
  • TCV is a partner in the Acorn Fam Project and runs the ‘I Can Grow’ growing vegetables at home initiative, supporting 400 households per year.
  • Projects to help reduce health inequalities through therapeutic horticulture and community growing projects.

The role demands outstanding people leadership skills with the ability to build strategic partnerships to expand our operations. Experience and understanding of working with volunteers and engaging volunteers from all backgrounds including for example; youth, minority ethnic communities and corporate volunteers, is essential.

TCV’s Brooke Park base comprises of an open plan office, a large training room, workshop, walled community garden with growing infrastructure to engage all ages and abilities, polytunnels, storage sheds and vehicle fleet.

A full, clean or near clean UK driving licence is required for this post, which has been held for a minimum of one year.

To fulfil the role, you must be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
