Green Spaces Community Growing Project – Practical Garden Volunteer
Description
The Role
Volunteers will assist committee/lead volunteers in carrying out general gardening and practical tasks on site. This will include planting, weeding, tidying, brushing, lifting.
If you have particular skills such as DIY and woodwork we would ask you to assist senior volunteers in tasks such as fencing and raised bed building or small repairs.
When
We open on Tuesdays when our core group attend from 10.30-3pm approx or when tasks are finished. Once your application is accepted, new volunteers are likely to start on a different day to the core opening times in order to familiarise themselves with the project. After an induction period your days and times of attendance will be decided mutually.
You may not be able to attend every week but a regular commitment is expected within the opening hours.
Additional information
The garden is still in early stages of development therefore the ground is uneven and there are no formal paths or walkways this means at the moment it is not suitable for those who are not steady on their feet or who have mobility or sight difficulties unless accompanied by a carer or assistant.
