Department for Communities – European Heritage Open Days EHOD 2025

Description

Each year hundreds of properties open their doors and many organisations put on events for FREE across Northern Ireland as part of European Heritage Open Days (EHOD).

Volunteers are needed throughout Northern Ireland over the weekend 13-14 September to welcome visitors to properties.

During the weekend, more than 230 events take place and interesting and unusual properties open their doors to the public for free.

There will be open buildings, guided tours, exhibitions, talks and music and dance performances, with participating venues including museums, private homes, churches, historic houses and gardens and much more .

We are looking for volunteers to help over the weekend with the running of events during the festival in September.

Organisers say volunteering is an ideal opportunity for heritage lovers or those looking to build their CV experience.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • helping to guide visitors
  • Registering people for tours
