NI Science Festival 2026 – What’s the Crake? A Corncrake recovery story

Join RSPB NI staff on Rathlin Island for a fascinating talk and walk exploring the secretive corncrake. Discover its unique ecology and the conservation work helping this rare bird return to Northern Ireland.

After a short talk over tea and scones at the Manor House, enjoy a guided walk through RSPB corncrake meadows to see habitat management in action and spot local wildlife along the shore on our way back via Mill Bay.

This walk will be over some rough and uneven ground. Participants should wear stout walking boots or shoes, and clothing appropriate to the outdoor weather conditions.
