The Rights of Nature movement has burgeoned over the last few decades, slowly coming to the forefront of environmental and biodiversity discourse within Europe- Yet what exactly is it?
A school of thought, a framework, or an enforcement mechanism? Come join us to discuss perspectives on what the ‘Rights of Nature’ means to you, whether you think Nature should or could have rights, and how that would work in the context of Northern Ireland. Utilising a scenario-based approach, alongside expert outlooks from researchers at the Climate+ Co-Centre, we’ll dive into perspectives through ‘Think-In’ breakout discussions, building an understanding of the benefits and challenges ‘Rights of Nature’ could bring to Northern Ireland at a local to national level.
Please note, this event will include an opening and closing survey to capture shifts in perspectives during the session, as well as discussion scribes on tables to capture the full range of perspectives and opinions. This will form part of an outgoing dialogue which will be made accessible after the event, and will feed into a component of a PhD students thesis work on biodiversity-related risk’
