ECO-Week 2026: Free, Online Sustainability Sessions for Young People on SDG Week!
ECO-UNESCO, Ireland’s environmental education and youth organisation, is delighted to host ECO-Week 2026 from Monday 21st to Friday 25th September, in celebration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Week.
ECO-Week is a series of free, online sustainability sessions tailored to young people aged 8-12 and 13-18. Get the basics of climate change, learn about Ireland’s wildlife, discover how we can stop fast fashion, and more! Whether in school, in a youth group, community group or from home, young people across the island can join live or playback the sessions.

Meet the SDGs!
Get introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals! Explore what they mean, why they matter and how they help tackle some of the biggest challenges facing our world.

Exploring Ireland’s Wildlife (SDG 15)
Join Ross McIlwrath from Ulster Wildlife for a journey into the fascinating world of Ireland’s wildlife. Discover the secret lives of red squirrels and pine martens, find out why these species are so special and learn how conservation projects are helping to protect them.

Tuesday 22nd September
Can We Stop Fast Fashion? (SDG 12)
Our clothes have a story! Join Solene Schirrer from VOICE’s Fabric of Change campaign to follow the journey of our clothes, uncover the secrets of fast fashion and discover how our fashion choices affect people and the planet.

Water: Every Drop Counts (SDG 6)
Water is everywhere, but how much do we really know about it? Join ecologist and educator Alex Konieczka from Understory to dive into the world of water, find out why it matters and discover how we can care for every drop.

Thursday 24th September
The World Beneath the Waves (SDG 14)
From tiny plankton to magnificent whales, our oceans are full of life. Meet Noirín Burke, from Galway Atlantaquaria and the Irish Ocean Literacy Network, as we dive into the wonders of our seas and learn how we can all play a part in keeping them healthy.

Zero Waste for Zero Hunger (SDG 2)
Over one-third of food is wasted, yet millions of people face hunger. Catch Cian Walsh, UCC Government & Political Science student with experience working with FoodCloud, as we explore how we can waste less, share more and build stronger communities.

Friday 25th September
One Planet, Different Experiences (SDG 10)
We share one planet, but we don’t all experience its challenges in the same way. Join Waheed Liam Adam, GOAL NextGen Alumni member with a background in UNICEF Zimbabwe and a Bachelor’s in Global Responsibility and Leadership, to explore what inequality looks like around the world, how environmental challenges can affect people differently and what disability can teach us about creating more inclusive climate action.

Finding Hope in a Changing Climate (SDG 3)
Climate change can feel overwhelming, but hope can help us find a way forward. Explore climate anxiety, discover how connecting with nature and spending time outdoors can support our wellbeing, and learn how we can take care of ourselves while caring for our planet.
