Deadline Extended – Chair and 15 Members to the Just Transition Commission (JTC)
The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is seeking to appoint a Chair and 15 Members to the newly established Just Transition Commission (JTC). The Commission will have a statutory role in overseeing the implementation of the just transition provisions within Northern Ireland’s Climate Change Act and in providing independent advice to Northern Ireland departments

Time Commitment and Remuneration
The Chair and Member roles require a time commitment of approximately 15 days per annum (with an additional five days in the first year only to facilitate training and induction in the inaugural appointments). Remuneration for the Chair and Members is a daily rate of £436 and £309 respectively.
Terms of Appointment
It is anticipated successful candidates will be appointed by 1 February 2027. The Chair appointment will be for 5 years. The Member appointments will be for 4 years.
Closing Date
The closing date has been extended. Completed applications must be returned to the Department by 12 Noon on Thursday 9 July 2026.
