The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has launched a public consultation to seek views on the level of the Fourth Carbon Budget for Northern Ireland.
This consultation offers consultees the opportunity to provide their views on DAERA’s proposal to set Northern Ireland’s Fourth Carbon Budget covering the period 2038-2042 at an average annual reduction of 77% below the 1990 baseline, in line with the recommendation of the UK Climate Change Committee.
DAERA is required to set the Fourth Carbon Budget at a level that is consistent with meeting the emissions reduction targets for 2040 and 2050.
DAERA are inviting responses, from both individual members of the public and organisations. The primary method for responses is online via Citizen Space.
