The Institute of Public Health (IPH) was established in 1999 by government in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to promote co–operation for public health on the island of Ireland. Its remit includes: providing public health information and surveillance; strengthening public health capacity; and advising on policy. IPH has made tackling health inequalities in health the focus for all its work.
