Theme: The role of livestock in our ecosystems and economy
Livestock have an important role in the economy of many countries, often underpinning the health of ecosystems. However, local and global intensity of livestock systems poses pressures on many environmental outcomes especially water and air quality, and biodiversity. A great line-up of speakers are in place to share their knowledge and debate the role of livestock in today’s world.
These speakers include:
Prof Frank O’Mara, Teagasc and the President of the Animal Task Force, who will open the conference.
Ass. Prof Hannah van Zanten (Wageningen University) will deliver the Hammond Lecture.
The Presidents of the British Ecological Society, British Soil Science Society, Agricultural Economics Society and British Society of Animal science will come together in the main session of the conference to present the facts on the role of livestock, for better or worse, on our ecosystems and economy.
