The Planning Taskforce is a group of environment and community organisations with an interest and expertise in planning, formed to promote good practice in planning and develop shared policy positions. Some member organisations focus more on policy and advocacy, others on practical projects.

The Taskforce seeks to work proactively towards a more effective planning framework that will encourage sustainable development, well–being, participation and effective consultation. The group brings together a diverse range of skills and expertise to build on a shared policy agenda for planning in Northern Ireland.

The Planning Taskforce Work Programme 2013–2014 can be found here.

Priorities for current Programme for Government

  • Consultation on the Northern Ireland Planning Bill, subordinate legislation and Local Government Reform.
  • Participate and deliver activities to promote improved planning, in conjunction with NILGA, and preparing for full local government control of planning.
  • The Planing Taskforce will meet at least 4 times in 2013, and will be concentrating on consultation on the Planning Bill, subordinate legislation and Local Government Reform.
