Open Air Labs (OPAL) is changing 9 October 2019

OPAL’s current phase at Imperial College is coming to a close. However, we are in discussions with the British Ecological Society (BES) to take forward the OPAL brand and resources, using these to support ecological education and the needs of teachers.

OPAL@BES will focus on developing free educational resources based on the OPAL surveys and historical data collected.  Work is due to begin in early 2020, with resources made available by the end of the year. You can find out more about BES and what they do on their website.

OPAL survey data entry to close

Data entry for OPAL Surveys will close on Friday 18th October 2019 – except for the X–Polli:Nation Project and the Pollinator Promise which will remain live on the OPAL website until June 2020.

If you have completed a survey and have results to enter, please do so by this date! The data from all completed surveys will then be summarised and made accessible to all via the OPAL and Imperial College websites. In addition, all New Zealand Flatworm sightings will be uploaded to the NBN Atlas, ensuring your observations are available for future scientific studies.

Although survey data entry is closing, you can continue to access all current OPAL surveys and resources for free from the OPAL website.
