BCC: Zero Waste Community Grant 17 December 2013

Belfast City Council – Zero Waste Community Grant

Funding Limits

Maximum Award: £10,000

Groups can apply for more than one project in each funding round

Purpose of the Fund

The Belfast City Council Zero Waste Community Grant Scheme aims to help us achieve zero waste direct to landfill and increase our recycling rates. This will be achieved by working with and for the residents and communities of Belfast.

We aim to reduce the amount of waste produced, increase recycling and promote the idea of waste as a resource. The purpose of this scheme is to encourage and support community activities that will help achieve this vision.

Our main objective is to promote waste prevention, divert material from landfill and to engage with residents so they fully participate in recycling schemes, leading to an increase in the recycling rate and helping us reach our tough recycling targets.

Application forms and full guidance notes are available online by visiting www.belfastcity.gov.uk/community/grantsandfunding/smallgrantsfundforms.aspx

Eligible Project Costs

1.      The project must be aimed at increasing Belfast’s household recycling rate, landfill diversion and/or waste prevention. Projects involving commercial waste will not be considered.

2.      Organisations which plan to carry, store or process waste must have the correct waste management licenses or exemptions

3.      All projects must take place within the Belfast City Council area
