Single–Use Plastic Products Policy Development and Learnings from Life Cycle Assessment Part 2
Tuesday 20 October 2020 - 05/10/20
Online
The United Nations Environmental Programme life cycle team is currently progressing single–use plastic products work (UNEA4/Res 9) leading up to UNEA5. As part of this activity, they are launching a webinar series running every Tuesday this October.
This webinar series will draw together a selection of case studies illustrating government responses to develop and implement policy on single–use plastic products pollution – with a particular interest in cases where life–cycle thinking has been used to help inform policy development.
They will be sharing the results of the LCA meta–studies on single–use plastic products and their alternatives including on shopping bags, beverage cups, takeaway food packaging, beverage bottles, tableware, nappies, masks and feminine hygiene products. And, the authors of the recently published report, “20 Years of Government Responses to the Global Plastic Pollution Problem” from the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University will be presenting on their findings and recommendations.
This event is part of a webinar series to share:
(1) Actions by Member States to address single–use plastic products pollution; and,(2) Learnings from Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies on the impacts of single–use plastic products and their alternatives.
