This February, The Crescent is delighted to welcome NI Science Festival for a series of events and workshops as part of the 2026 programme.

Step into the underworld of environmental destruction, where traffickers, hitmen, and corporate criminals leave a trail of devastation—and a new kind of detective follows the clues.

Criminal psychologist Dr Julia Shaw explores the darkest corners of our planet’s most urgent crimes, from oil spills and emissions scandals to global wildlife trafficking.

Drawing from her latest book Green Crime, Dr Shaw uncovers the psychology of environmental offenders and the scientists, activists, and investigators working to stop them. A thrilling, eye-opening look at how we can fight back against those stealing our planet’s future.
