Floodplain Meadows Partnership Conference 2021

About this event

Our online conference will take place this year on 13th, 14th and 15th October. We are lining up an exciting selection of inspirational, influential and highly knowledgeable speakers within a range of sessions, hoping to be as interactive as we can.

We will also showcase and announce our arts and crafts competition winners.

Our programme so far is below.

13th October 2021

16.30 – 18.30:

  • Keynote speakers Barry Gardiner MP and Trine Chrisansen (European Environment Agency)
  • A series of virtual site visits
  • Floodplain Meadow Question Time Session 1 – submit your questions for our panel to answer live

14th October 2021

9.30–12.30:

  • Soils of floodplains including soil carbon
  • Restoration of meadows and soil carbon – research
  • Restoration of floodplain meadows and soil carbon – National Trust
  • Soil and farmland carbon code
  • Landuse and management on soil properties (water storage)
  • An overview of floodplain meadow restoration.

17.00 – 19.30:

  • Delivery of floodplain meadow restoration at a landscape scale – various case studies
  • ELMS opportunities for floodplain meadow restoration
  • Floodplain Meadow Question Time, Session 2 – submit your questions for our panel to answer live.

15th October 2021

9.30–12.30:

  • Assessing the historic extent of meadows. Various case studies. Discussion of practitioner and community needs.
  • Strategic mechanisms for facilitating restoration. Various opportunities.

17.00–18.30:

  • Meadow Arts – a community arts project at Avon Meadows, Worcestershire
  • FMP arts and crafts competition – finalists showcased, and winners announced
