Climate Clever Communities Summit

Category: Days Out

The Climate Clever Communities Summit is a day given to transforming the power of community into the immediate climate action that is urgently required.

Join us in Belfast’s hub of sustainability the ICC on 15 June 2022, and discover some of the most innovative local solutions tackling the climate emergency, and the ways in which we can leverage the potential of the community sector to take the lead in this space.

Inspiring and Driving Action

To date, BBC Environment Correspondent Louise Cullen has been confirmed as event host, performance psychologist Jamil Qureshi as keynote speaker, and Kate Munro, Chairperson of Sustainable Kirriemuir, as the latest speaker to be added to a busy round of talks and panel discussions.

A crucial part of the summit will be a series of workshops led by those at the forefront of climate activism in Northern Ireland’s community groups. Attendees will be privy to the hands-on skills, best practices and lessons that groups have learned in the course of their response, helping to ensure that the journey from education to action is a reality by the end of the day.

We ask delegates to participate in one of three possible workshops:

  • Workshop 1: Carbon Literacy Briefing Session
  • Workshop 2: Create Your Own Community Climate Action Plan. Discover the frameworks, tools, hacks and tips that will steer your own roadmap for climate action.
  • Workshop 3: Opportunities and Support with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful. From tackling waste and pollution, to supporting biodiversity and adopting a spot to care for in your local community, find out how we can work with you.
