Belfast Healthy Cities: Designing a city for children

Wednesday 14 April 2021

Online

Date: Wednesday 14 April 2021

Time: 12.30pm – 2.00pm

Venue: Online via Zoom

This lunchtime seminar will showcase innovative work taking place to transform our cities into places where children and play are at the centre. As Belfast emerges from Covid19 it has a chance to enhance its city centre and local neighbourhoods as safe and engaging destinations for children and families. Children make up over 20% of the population of Belfast and families are a considerable contributor to the fabric of life and the economy.

During this webinar Belfast Healthy Cities in collaboration with Ministerial Advisory Group on Architecture and the Built Environment will launch Designing Places for Children and Young People, a set of design guidelines to inform innovative thinking on design of place for children and families. Speakers also include Cork Healthy Cities and Urban 95 discussing the cheerful work taking place to welcome children and families to public spaces.

Speakers include:

Denise Cahill, Cork Healthy Cities, Playful Placemaking in Cork City https://corkhealthycities.com/playful-cities

Hannah Rothschild, Urban 95, Creating Cities for the youngest people
