Horizon 2020 is the EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). Measures within Pillar 3 Societal Challenges include:

• Health, demographic change and wellbeing (helping EU citizens to lead longer and healthier lives)

• European Bioeconomy Challenges (investment for a safe, secure food supply, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine, maritime & inland waterway research)

• Secure, clean and efficient energy (e.g. efficient use of resources to create affordable green electricity)
