Community Planning Toolkit 25 May 2012

Launch of Community Planning Toolkit

Environment Minister Alex Attwood has launched the online Community Planning Toolkit which we have developed with funding from the Big Lottery Fund . The Toolkit is available at www.communityplanningtoolkit.org and is a comprehensive resource for Community Planning, highlighting and directing you to useful tools, resources, case studies and podcasts.  

The Minister said: “I am introducing Community Planning as part of the reform of local government. It will provide a framework within which councils, government departments, statutory bodies, and other relevant agencies and sectors can work together to develop and implement a shared vision for promoting the well–being of their area. It is based on engagement with the community and will ensure that citizens have a more effective input into decisions that will affect them. The online Toolkit launched today is a combination of research, information, advice and best practice gathered together in one place. It will provide a valuable resource to all those involved in Community Planning across Northern Ireland.”

The Toolkit is a live resource which Community Places will be maintaining and updating as we count down to the introduction of Community Planning legislation in 2015. We will soon be organising local events to promote the Toolkit and update groups on Community Planning and progress towards new councils.
